Philodendron Florida Beauty Sunrise — Starter
Description
✦ The Plantry Plant Co. ✦
"Look at the marbling on that leaf — cream and green in equal measure, no clean sections at all. That's not a caveat for a young start, that's the whole reason to buy one this early." — Mr. Phileas Plant
The Plant
Philodendron 'Florida Beauty Sunrise' is the golden-variegated selection of the Florida hybrid — deeply lobed, five-fingered leaves that carry sectoral variegation running warm, cream to gold, rather than the plain white of the classic Florida Beauty. Variegation in the Florida group is unpredictable leaf to leaf, so buying in at the starter stage is a bit of a gamble and a bargain both.
This is a young starter — one heavily marbled, deeply lobed leaf with fine cream-and-gold speckling across the blade, and fresh yellow growth already unfurling beside it, rooted in a clear cup of Fluval Stratum. Small and inexpensive now, but the marbling already on this leaf is a good sign for what she'll throw next.
Care at a Glance
☀️ Light: Bright indirect — essential. Strong light drives the gold; dim light pushes reversion to plain green.
💧 Water: When the top inch of substrate is dry. Small cup — go easy.
🌡️ Humidity: Appreciates 50%+ while she's establishing.
🪴 Soil: Established in Fluval Stratum.
📏 Growth: Climbing — give her a pole as she matures for the most dramatic lobing.
⚠️ Toxicity: Toxic if ingested — keep away from pets and children.
