Manjula Pothos
Description
✦ The Plantry Plant Co. ✦
"If the Golden Pothos is the dependable friend, the Manjula is the artist in the family. Each leaf is its own watercolor — broad strokes of cream, white, and green blending in patterns that never repeat. I find myself studying each new leaf like a painting. Quite mesmerizing." — Mr. Phileas Plant
The Plant
The Pothos Manjula (Epipremnum aureum 'Manjula') is a patented variety originally developed by the University of Florida. What sets it apart from other variegated Pothos is its wide, heart-shaped leaves with wavy, slightly ruffled edges and bold variegation that ranges from creamy white to silvery green — often with large sectoral splashes that make every leaf unique.
Unlike the sharper variegation of a Marble Queen or the speckled pattern of an N'Joy, the Manjula's color blends are soft and painterly. This starter is established in a clear cup of Fluval Stratum with variegation already showing and a healthy root system visible through the cup.
Care at a Glance
☀️ Light: Bright indirect to maintain variegation. Low light will push leaves toward solid green.
💧 Water: When top inch of substrate is dry. Rooted in a no-drainage cup, so water sparingly.
🌡️ Humidity: Average household is fine; higher humidity keeps leaves lush.
🪴 Soil: Established in Fluval Stratum volcanic substrate.
📏 Growth: Trailing vine — slower growing than Golden or Marble Queen due to variegation.
⚠️ Toxicity: Mildly toxic if ingested.
