Monstera Esqueleto
Description
✦ The Plantry Plant Co. ✦
"The Esqueleto is what happens when a Monstera stops being polite about its holes. Where the adansonii punches neat ovals, this one hollows the leaf out until there is more window than wall — a skeleton leaf, which is precisely what the name says." — Mr. Phileas Plant
The Plant
Monstera esqueleto (long sold as Monstera epipremnoides) is the collector's fenestrated monstera — large leaves so deeply perforated that the remaining tissue reads as a lattice. It is a genuine step up from the common adansonii in both leaf size and drama.
This one is an established vine with fully fenestrated mature leaves, rooted in a clear cup of Fluval Stratum. Give her a pole and the leaves get dramatically larger and more open with each new one.
Care at a Glance
☀️ Light: Bright indirect. Direct afternoon sun will scorch those thin leaf sections.
💧 Water: When the top inch of substrate is dry. She likes steady moisture — never soggy.
🌡️ Humidity: Appreciates 60%+ — humidity is what drives the big fenestrated leaves.
🪴 Soil: Established in Fluval Stratum.
📏 Growth: Climbing vine — she needs a pole to size up properly.
⚠️ Toxicity: Toxic if ingested — keep away from pets and children.
