Syngonium Batik
Description
✦ The Plantry Plant Co. ✦
"The Syngonium Batik is one of those plants that stops you mid-stride. Those deep, moody petioles paired with leaves etched in silver — it's as though someone illustrated each vein by hand with a fine nib pen. A true collector's piece disguised as a humble arrowhead." — Mr. Phileas Plant
The Plant
The Syngonium Batik is a rare and highly sought-after variety of arrowhead vine, prized for its stunning foliage. Each leaf emerges with a deep green base overlaid with bold silvery-white veining that resembles the intricate patterns of traditional batik textile art — hence the name. The dark, almost black petioles provide a dramatic contrast that makes this plant look like it belongs in a botanical illustration.
Unlike many Syngoniums that quickly vine out, the Batik tends to hold a more compact, bushy form in its juvenile stage before gradually developing its climbing habit. It's a versatile grower — equally happy trailing from a shelf or climbing a support.
This specimen has 4 established leaves with excellent vein patterning and a healthy, well-rooted system visible through the clear pot.
Care at a Glance
☀️ Light: Bright indirect for best vein contrast. Tolerates medium light.
💧 Water: When top 1–2" of substrate is dry. Likes consistent moisture.
🌡️ Humidity: 50%+ preferred; higher humidity intensifies the silver patterning.
🪴 Soil: Ships in Fluval Stratum volcanic substrate.
📏 Growth: Compact and bushy when young; trails or climbs as it matures.
⚠️ Toxicity: Mildly toxic if ingested. Keep away from pets and children.
