Epipremnum Amplissimum — Low Variegation
Description
✦ The Plantry Plant Co. ✦
"Most aroids reach for width. The amplissimum reaches for length — long, tapering blades that catch the light down their whole run. This one wears its variegation the way the best-dressed guests do: a hint, a whisper of cream, never a shout." — Mr. Phileas Plant
The Plant
Epipremnum amplissimum is an uncommon climbing aroid with long, narrow, strap-shaped leaves — a completely different silhouette from the heart-shaped pothos most people know. Mature leaves can stretch well over a foot and take on a silvery cast in good light.
This is a rooted starter with low variegation: expect a subtle touch of pale marbling on the leaves rather than bold splashes, and note that variegation can shift as the plant grows. It is growing in a clear cup of Fluval Stratum so you can watch the root system for yourself. Give it a pole or a moss stick and it will climb — and the higher it climbs, the longer the leaves get.
Care at a Glance
☀️ Light: Bright indirect. Strong light brings out the silvery sheen.
💧 Water: When the top inch of substrate is dry. Rooted in a no-drainage cup, so water sparingly.
🌡️ Humidity: Appreciates 50%+ but adapts to average household air.
🪴 Soil: Established in Fluval Stratum.
📏 Growth: Climbing vine — leaves lengthen dramatically once it has something to hold onto.
⚠️ Toxicity: Toxic if ingested — keep away from pets and children.
